Yes. third head gasket. got the head skimmed and brought a new torque wrench. set up the mixture useing a exaust probe.

So i can only assume its terminal and rebuild into a diffrent block.

paint it red and ebay it!

then use the money to build a moderate turbo lump.

Just another couple of thoughts .....

Fuel:

What have you been running Sam ?

Are you using any fuel additives such as a combined anti valve seat wear/ octane booster with your unleaded, such as Castrol Valvemaster Plus ?

Using 95 RON unleaded as everyday fuel can cause pinking in a motor with a high CR, particularly when on the day it was set up the timing was spot on but the tank had 97 RON Super Unleaded in it.

Gaskets:

I've had great success with the dark greay fire ring / bonded in oil seal gasket (AF470 I think) with a torque of 55 lbft, an extra 5 lbft over standard.

Previous to this type of gasket, again with a great deal of success, I used an old trick passed to me by an aging Mini 7 racer. This involved placing a 2 inch piece of 5 Amp fuse wire between cylinders 2 & 3. This promotes greater clamping force to stop blow between the two exhaust valves. Could be worth a shot, but may not be entirely relevant with the latest fire-ring type gasket. Trouble is, its a lot of work to re-do if it dont work !

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

The crowns of the pistons are cooked.
The rocker pedistals are cooked.
But water temp never went above 3/4.

Massivly too far advanced.

Edited because of angry statement at the end. Calmed down now.
