I got hold of a set of later front hubs for the obvious reason of being able to fit discs (original subframe/hubs etc were drum) from a friend of a friend who said there was just a little bit of play in the ball joints.

There was and I didn't really need the spanner once I bent back the locktabs, so I degreased them all and had a look.

I can't get a new ball joint seat into any of those three at the moment, it will need a lot of careful remedial work to get them in safely.

No wonder the EU wants to ban private maintenance of vehicles..... but who knows, the monkey who did this could have worked in a bona-fida garage....
