just did a quick search on aerodynamics and found its been proven to help but couldn't find any pictures on how people have gone about this. is a front splitter from abs or similar needed so it could be run flat off bottom of the subframe?

It would purely be to smooth out airflow, i believe a sheet from the front valence to the front floor pans would sort this a great deal.

But one problem with that is.

Air enters the engine bay then exits under the front fitch panels and bulkhead.

read in another topic that reducing holes in the front helps a great deal .. its on the list along with the underneath.

yeah, you have to consider where air is trying to exit under the car though, obviously you havent got inner wings and if you could duct the air to pass out through the cooling system and out the engine bay without causing alot of disturbance to the air passing around the car it would be better, often it is ducket under the car and persuaded to stick to the smoothend surface of the car, other option would be into wheel arches but the arch design wouldnt be very good for this, another idea would be out the bonnet but it may interupt the flow of air up the screen

Germini, black forrest

Hmmm - I always wondered what the point is with the ERA's cowlling on the front subframe? To force more air through the rad?

[X] nail here for new monitor

Rich, did you get round to making one of these undertray thingies?

I've been thinking about incorporating one with a front splitter/air dam but it looked shit so probably just going to panel in under the subframes, rather then bother with air dam thingy.

In the end I just made a tray to tidy up the air underneath the subframe, it did help with a couple mph over the 1/4

Currently reading this, for a college project:

Can be bought cheaply online, and is quite easy to understand. Air/Fluid doesn't always do what you think!

Still interested in any photos of peoples solutions for this area. I think there are gains to be had here.

I've been out playing and pretty much closed the grille off where there are no vents/rads/ducts.

Will also panel in the subframe undersides front and rear when I can find a piece of ally big enough. Not gonna bother with anything else.

What I plan to do is ducted rad and ic kinda either side of the engine bay area and block off the rest of the air, try and channel ot out of the wheel arch/a pannel area. I would like to do a front air dam of sorts but dont want anything ott really.
