Hello,

I seem to recall a thread probably about a month or 2 ago about someone having some dye to put in the oil in the engine to find an oil leak, i know you have to use a uv light to find the leak but i cant find anywhere in the uk that has the stuff in stock nor can i find the thread on here.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers Josh

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Heavily degrease with brake cleaner, then spray everywhere with leak seaking spray(basically aerosol talcom powder)

a c20let with a t28 turbo in a vx220 ive had the gearbox in and out of the car 5-6 times and its getting a bit tedious now as it drips from the where the gearbox meets the engine rite at the bottom well thats where the oil drips onto the floor from ive replaced 4-5 crankshaft end oil seals had the turbo off and the inlet off looking for this leak and still have yet to find the leak at first i thought it was to much pressure build up in the crank casing but we have run a couple of tests and all seem to be fine.

Thus the reason looking for some oil tracing dye or the likes.

If there is so much that it leaves a pool of oil, there is no way it isnt leaving a trace of where it has come from

speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

C20xe's are notorious for leaking oil from the rubber cam cover gasket. The C20let is basically the same engine so I'd inspect that matey. *happy*

have you checked the surface where the rear main seal sits for damage (i.e scredriver gouge marks)where its been removed previously.

have you checked theres not a deep groove worn in the crank by a old seal?

i would take gearbox off put on ramp degrease it and then get some leak seek (as evo suggested) and give it all a good dusting, it will show up

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

During the many times ive had it in and out ive looked for damage in the rear main seal area no marks their were a few tiny ones but i got a bit of emery paper and got rid of them with little to no effort, we havent got the proper tool to put the seal in but using the glossy part of the magazine and a flat bit of metal makes them slip in all be it a bit hard but the end result would be exactly the same using the correct tool.

The gearbox is off at the moment ive made a engine mount so i can run the engine in the car with the gearbox off to try and find the leak one thing im definately going to do is do as evo suggested and get some of the spray powder first if not then ill have to get the dye

Ill take some pictures of the part where its leaking when im at work tomorrow

Cheers for everyones comments

Josh

ive checked the head gasket and ive replaced both sump gaskets and the probelm is still occuring i wish i could just stick a tampon under it but i dont think its very practical in the long run lol
