Well, you have to be quick....

I have no doubt I will eventually end up using one of these or it's derivatives (as everyone says they are so much better than the T2/T3 series) so a scrap one to see the flanges, physical size and layout to design around seemed worthwhile at that price.

There may even be some salvagable parts on it.......

So thanks for the link !!!!

There are some people on here who have paid an awful lot more for "good" ones only to find they are scrap *frown*

At least this seller is honest and as I only want one to get all the dimensions off and use as a mock-up, £20 is a lot cheaper than touring the (very few) scrappies in Suffolk *happy*

Would it be suitable as an exchange unit? If so, the it is an absolute bargain

Sorry Mark, no offence intended, I couldn't remember who it was (I think it was at least two people this happened to) and PayPal is usually your saviour.

But for what I want this for, £20 is fine by me !!!

If there are any good bits on it, that's a bonus :)

They'll take anything as an exchange item, I built one up out of all my scrap bits, only the compressor housing was salvagable and they took it. :)

Gt17's are soooo 2007. *hehe!*

I bought 2 for £60, came complete with the oil/ water pipes, boost hoses and exhaust manifolds. One has previoisly been rebuilt and the other I would consider new with 5k on it *happy*

I also bought a completely knackered one for a tenner.

£20 for a knackered turbo is expensive *hehe!*

*wink*

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Fair point :)

One thig to be aware of with the GT17 is if the exhaust housing is difficult to remove, its cracked.

TBH Colin, it's one of the reasons I bought it - I want to see what all the issues are with these GT series actually in my own hand rather than what everyone says...

I hope that makes sense ????

Lol, thats that then. The data I give is accurate for the units I have had the pleasure of dismantling, all three of them:)

Forgot to mention, it arrived yesterday.

Not as bad as he described, well not as bad as I was expecting from his description...... masses of sideways play in the shaft (none end to end) but the compressor wheel (the only one I can see before I dismantle it) has only rubbed the housing lightly.

It still has the actuator on that I wasn't expecting from the photo.

Interesting comparison to the (Metro) T3, the rotating parts are a lot smaller, hence presumably why it spools up quicker, but presumably it runs much higher RPMs so the wear on the bearings is greater ???

Also it's all upside down compared to the T3, ie, if I made a manifold adapter (which I can't as it's attached by studs on the turbo rather than studs on the manifold) the compressor outletis pointing downwards.....

So well worth seeing one close up.
