I may have got it right this time, they don't seem to be Chinese copies.

One here and here.

He's got a few, and a shop selling Saab parts.
Seem to be fair prices (depending on condition) and I've asked him if they're genuine and not Chinese copies.
I suspect they are proper Garrett items but it's always worth an ask.
I'll ask him a question about shaft play (I believe that is a service he offers) and then possibly pick on up (if I can afford it).
If I'm the first to go for it I'll post up whether it seems to be worth it on first inspection.

I,v bought stuff from this guy before and I have no doubt that these are Garrett turbos.

If you do go to pick one up see if you can get the alloy cast inlet for the compressor as it makes it easier to connect(its a V band arrangement) -also see if he will let you have the first few inches of the exhaust for the same reason.

aye, he confirmed they were Garrett items.
I've already spent so much this month but it's tempting! I'll drop him a message, see what he says about the inlet for the compressor and the exhaust.

you will need -

1. GT17 turbo (new or old ebay, saab breakers so on)
2. outlet manifold (make it / buy one off matty / have a search on here at what some have done
3. You will need to make a down pipe (as they can not be bought yet)
4. oil feed

and i have found all this out from reading lots on hear mate, have a search around look for words like GT17, gt 17, oil feed, oilfeed, how to, convert,

hope this helps simon.

Add to that the oil return and water pipes which you will need to make.

Also, unless you but one of Matty,s manifolds you will need to modify the turbo to fit the Metro/T3 manifold

Depends on condition, cheapest I've found for a genuine Garrett GT17 and I've been hunting a fair bit recently.
