All i can say is that its not just about the welding.
Saying that if you've no welding skills at all you should be trying to weld a sill on or floor pan not full on fabrication.

Oh yes you need fabrication skills aswell and the knowlage to understand strength and structure.

just my thaughts

Cheers rick for your thoughts Its just and idea but the car is now at my step dads steel cutting factory so can have the metal shaped and cut for next to nothing.

And there's a garage round the corner were there is a rally ford focus outside so might be worth a call in to see what they think

Cheers sean

IMO fabrication is not just about cutting and shaping metal

You have no know what to fabricate and how strong to fabricate it!

also what about suspention geometry and weight distribution these all have to be factored in, you also need to be able to measure and do good drawings

Theres a huge amount to this that welding shaping or cutting metal and you could make an expensive death trap if your unsure what your doing

And it's not like a mid mounted A-series is particularly new.

How old is the twin engined Mini's or mokes ?

turbo or not doesnt matter, that's the easy bit.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.
