We have busted the turbo block mythc on here. But in the wider mini comunity the myth persists so people are happy to shell out for turbo blocks. Silly people.

Actually I've heard that painting inside a block inside can improve oil return. (obviously not on any bearing surfaces etc)

EDIT: One of my block has had this done. Not by me however.

i could earn a bomb if i robbed a flywheel and clutch off my mate for a fiver, and sold the MG metro block i bought off sprocket the other day.

Some people are right greedy, i wouldnt pay 150 for a short engine, nevermind just a block *indifferent*

Somewhere around Swindon

Thing is people are saying the seller is greedy but it was listed at a reasonable £29 and no-one has forced people to bid on it

Classic case of bidding fever, shame it never happens to anything i put on ebay

I once sold a pair of alloy headlamp rings for 85€... Madness!

But what's with the 'X' between the core plugs? None of the 1275 blocks I've ever seen had this... I demand an explanation!

Xed out core/tooling...?

I wonder if its from when they changed the mains shells to the solid/grooved type?

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

You can usually determine which A+ blocks have groove groove bearings as they do not have WFM1024 cast into the block just below the deck on the 'front'

That's wrong,
Wfm1024less turbo and N/A blocks doesn't have pré A+ bearings (groove/groove type)as mandatory, on the pile only one was this type of blocks (early mg metro), I'm certain that they switched the production of all the same blocks early to standardize production.

Thinking about it we have a block that came out of a y-reg metro that didn't have WFM1024 on it but had solid/groved. Wasn't a turbo engine.

Sounds X-pensive.... *happy*

My Allegro block has a Leyland logo on the back, no writing on the front and solid/grooved mains. But WFM1024 & the 'diamond' sign on the back too.
