Stoke-on-Trent. Duck.

... and not likely to be mine given that the current bid is £23k (no, that's not a typo!)

Fook, thats one hell of a collection!

personally I can't see the appeal with snap-on stuff, they're only spanners etc.. at the end of the day. *surprised*hwell:

Christ, thats unbelieveable.

Re: Snap On tools, I used to be the same, but I have to say now owning a fair bit, they really are nice to use. The other bonuses are that if you break anything they will replace it, and more so that the stuff all retains its value really quite well. I have bought some of mine second hand, for not a lot more than a cheaper brand would be new, but my Snap On stuff is still worth similar money, whereas the cheap stuff is worth a LOT less second hand.

Would love a snap on tool set, just a 3/8's ratchet would be a good start because I keep knackering the cheaper ones, they only last a year or so.

one day boost will be mine!

Wez, get a Britool A48 ratchet handle, good bit of kit, not over expensive but quite hardy and last well. I've got 2 in service and one knackered one, but the knackered one did about 5 years work, including working full time breaking Minis at one time.

Who's to say he paid £24k for it?

He bought a fully kitted out workshop (the BAC) and is selling some of the stuff he doesn't need. He has some other tools listed separately.

The Blue Point stuff is pretty good but it isn't as good as proper Snap On.

Regarding the 3/8 ratchet, one of the reasons I broke my 1st one was using it for everything, including stuff too big/tight for it. Anything much bigger than about 10mm or 3/8" thread size and you should be thinking about using 1/2" drive stuff. I now do this and hence my 3/8 stuff is going strong. I do also have a Snap On, CAT (made by Snap On, same numbers on ratchet mech) and a Facom 3/8 ratchet to go at though.....I love tools.....!

I think I over strain them tbh, I always get the problem where the direction changes or just doesnt engage either way after its been put under load. Where as my 1/2 inch drive is a lazer one I paid about 17 quid for 10 yrs ago and it still going strong.

I have a really nice facom 3/8 drive with a ratchet in the handle for those tight to reach places, when you can't move the actual circular motion you just twist the handle...

I love tools too!

I got my snap on bills added up the other week and they owe me £2000 over the last 3 years. It's nice kit but I wouldn't have it if I wasn't using it everyday. I also have a full set of cheap and halfords kit at home to work on the mini. Gets the job done!

You have to be careful what you buy from snap on. Alot of the bluepoint stuff is just branded and can be picked up cheaper from lazer etc.

Snapon spanners & rachets are good. For DIY use, I go for Snapon rachet, Britool spanners & Sykes stuff is good too
