Been thinking about one of these for a while, unsure as whether to bother or not.
Are they worth thier money? Peoples opinions on them? And downside to them apart from low speed turning or parking? And do they make a noticable difference most of all. Cheers.

My hillclimber felt better with a standard rack. Not worth changing IMO.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

I'd say dont do it,

it will exagerate torque steer, which porbably wont be an issue on a NA racer on a twisty billiard table, but on a turbo motor up a bumby back road....

if i could get one for free , id use a much slower rack , or stick on the longer metro steering arms ,the rack at present is way to high ratio for over 110 mph on a bumpy cambered test track ..

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

I'm with Wil. We put the quick rack on because that is what you do on a race car. In reality the mini rack it pretty quick anyway and when we changed it back (due to budget) we felt it was much better.

Fair enough, just trying to think of anything thats best to buy while im rebuilding the car, i already have full hi-los and adjusable dampers, i only need adjustable bottom arms and handling wise i think that's it if quick racks aren't of much use. Apart from a bulkhead box to save myself somewhat £250 on mirage manifolds i don't think i need much else at this stage. Thanks for the input lads.

Think it would hurt you bellend trying to turn it instead of pulling? *happy*

Just reading this again. Would fitting metro steering arms, with a quick rack help minimise some of the twitchy characteristics they develop. My steering rack is getting past its best so need to buy a replacement, and can't help but feel it would be nice to have a little less steering input.

Always had one... makes it fast on turns but verry nervous on long straights

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

finish date set for project 1... march 2018

My thoughts have always been that the stock steering is sharp enough so why would u want it sharper.

And as already said torque steer would be alot harder to controll.

13.95 1/4 mile on a 2.95 fd. Carnt be that hard to beat!

Fitting a standard one still appears to be the best option then, especially as I will be doubling my horsepower very soon.

Thanks, I will get one ordered.

Personally I'd never go back to a standard rack...

although I wouldn't want to run one with a 10'' steering wheel!

i think the std one (i think i have a std) is very nimble
on 13x6 rims it gets a bit hairy above about 140km the car tends to follow the roads shape
ive not driven a mini witch is set up diffrantly so cant compare one to the other all i can say is compared to other cars ( vs model commodore, 2wd 1987 Toyota hilux) its much more twitchy to drive and much more fun!!
