Hey all,

I Haven't posted for a while but have been plodding on with the GT Clubman, basically I have had this parts washer http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/...=1&TC=SRC-parts since i started the strip down and rebuild and i am yet to use it, I have the cleaning fluid that I have to add water with, My question is should I add in cold water ? warm water ? boiling water with the cleaning fluid ? Surely warm water would be best ? help remove the grease/dirt and grime a bit better, I am going to be cleaning up the Radius arms tomorrow so was just curious?

Thanks All,

Jamie. *happy*

Hey Carl, the solution I have says it is meant to have water added with it, even if I empty the whole container of solution into the parts washer it isn't enough to reach the pump to circulate the fluid :0/

I've tried the water based stuff from machine mart. It does clean but it take a lot of effort. They do a solvent based cleaner which I should have bought but it'll make the garage stink and everything in it. I've tried other water based cleaners and they are all as bad. Use it neat, it's cheap so go buy some more!!

The thing with the water based degreasers is that they need to be pretty much boiling hot all the time, and there needs to be plenty agitation for them to work properly. Both of these you will find hard to acheive with those type of machines. The industrial machines I have used with water based degreasers have all worked amazingly well.

I tried adding water it f*cked it. If you add water it wouldn't wash a bogey off your finger! I ended up using it neat and even then was shite

The water diluted cleaner from M/Mart is rubbish. I bought the solvent stuff they do, this is quite good.

These are all reasons why my parts washer has become a surface to put stuff on, I now wash everything in the sink with really hot water. I do intend to buy a heated parts washer, I would be interested to know how much they cost.

You could fill it with cleaner and block the drain off and hey presto a proper cleaner!!

You do not put any water at all in there !! Use a proper degreaser only.

Afterwards you can use water to final clean outside the tank and wash the degreaser off. But only proper degreaser is used in the tank.

I've got both that model and the small bench top version, and they work fine with Jizer in.

A friend used the waterbased stuff, and while it worked okay to start with, it ended up going disgustingly mouldy.

Metric is for people who can't do fractions.
