Good evening chaps, en route home i noticed my passanger side headlight was not working, so when i got home i changed the bulb, it still was not working after i had changed it so i thought i would try the one that does work, so removed that one and swapped them over. It still did not work after this so i put the bulbs back how they were and now neither work.

All fueses are fine and the bulbs are still in good order no sign of damage or that they have blown. I have no idea what has caused this to happen so i have phoned the rac but i need the car for work tonight and no dipped beam works which is bad times.

Any ideas anyone? Its a 2008 clio 3 pre face lift.

make sure you have the radio code and disconnect the battery for a bit. body controll module may be having a fit. also test the wires to the lights with power on and see what they show. also, check the holders are making contact correctly and test the bulbs with a battery yourself. from that you can start to decide whats playing up.

and finally, if the headlights are controlled on a stalk like the indicators, there shit. there will be about 8 orange single core (brittle) wires which have to move each time the switch moves. and they always brake. easy enough to dismantle and fix.

Mate had a similar problem with cheapo bulbs, his headlights did all sorts of funny shit, told him it's got to be the bulbs after some head scratching, and I was right.

Just for future reference - many new cars will need the BCM reprogramming (dealer only) after a bulb change to make it work! For those of us in the trade - it keeps food on our table but a bit of a bugger for Joe Public!
