What have people done in this area then? Your all weight saving nuts.. thers a lot of weight in that panel.

Theres a lot of shape there too, so im wandering how structural it is? Im thinking along the lines of cutting out the main part of the panel and riviting in an aluminium or carbon panel in its place?

im sure some guys on here have tackled this area, what have you guys done?

Basically, by trying to save weight there, you'll end up adding more weight than there originally was in bracing/rollcage. So most people just leave it well alone.

As said above ^^^^

You'll probably safe a similar amount of weight by just removing the rear seat belt mounts. These weigh about 500g each and won't effect the structure.

spaceframemini has had a seat back made from ALU, but he has a big cage tied into the shell.

If you have a full weld in cage to the shock mounts I don't see a problem with removing it. Mines gone but I already had a cage

would the roof on the estate with its ribs not compensate vs the std mini roof. I need to put some structure into my estate but this is to mount rear belts for the 3 bin lids, or im going to have to fit isofix .........

Structural rigidity and vans do not belong in the same sentence.
The amount of flex in the rear of my 73 van was scary.
