Just had a look and no word of a lie the first owner was John Smith in leeds PMSL, but its got a genuine 67k on the clock with a vosa check by the last owner and 18 services stamps-2 dealer, the rest a fleet company and the yorkshire ambulance trust, less than 2000 miles between services but done every 6 months regardless, last service was nearly 3 years ago so stuck new oil, filter and air cleaner in last nite.

great drive... was my wife's first choice when she wanted a new car... she ended up with the pick up version in stead. but still great car.

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

Just don't run it in 4 wheel drive on dry tarmac, they have no centre diff so if you do you'll wind up the transmission and possibly break something. 4 wheel drive on soft or slippery surfaces only.

We took owner ship of the father in laws shogun after rover was pronounced dead, we managed 2 days and the petrol tank started leaking, mot was short so got it checked over-needed about £800 of welding apparently so that's going too-not a good car week! Thanks for the tip it's mainly the missus's car so will pass that on but she is a seasoned 4x4 owner and very clued up,really its just for pulling the hoss box- think the shogie was only put in 4wd 3 times in the 9 years its been with us!

The Challenger/Shogun sport is a different setup to the "full" Shogun- the full shogun has got super select transmission or in other words can be used on the road in 4 wheel drive no problem. The Sport/Challenger is L200 pickup based and has no centre diff.
As for the old Shogun, often the petrol leak is from the solid pipes that come out of the top of the pump on top of the tank. Easy to braze some new 8mm pipe in, there is an inspection hatch to remove the pump under the boot carpet, so it can be done easy enough without dropping the tank. I had to do this to mine. However mass welding there's no easy fix for! Mine had to have a a4 size patch in the drivers footwell for last years test, otherwise it's not bad.

I knew these were l200 based as I was weary due to having always despised the ride in them, a few firms I worked for had them-this however seems to ride really quite well which is weird, the shogie tank was rotten around the bottom but it was a custom tank done when it was gas converted at a year old to get the gas tank underneath and keep the 7 seats, however whilst i was kneeling underneath to discover the source of the leak I noticed the rear chassis was a little crispy-turns out I was looking at the best bit! All the out riggers and both inner wings shot was just the start!

Pps thanks I will miss my rover accord, It's never let me down once in 6 years

Yes the old mk2 Shoguns are getting a bit long in the tooth now. Interesting what you mention about the ride, we're thinking if changing ours for a newer one, but I'd discounted the Sports for the exact reason you mention, horrible ride in the various pick up versions.

Our have 2 choices of 4 by4. Road and of road and its l200 i think it depends on year of make

I always assumed the ride in the L200 was crap because a) it was a commercial and b) generally un-laden when I drove- to light over the back end. All that was in comparison to driving the audi so not at all fair to be honest. I'd have thought a full car may have had slightly better manners. Does this have coils all round or cart springs at the rear?

I have only ever driven l200s between 02-04 plates and didn't like any one of em a bobar harsh crashy ride with an odd cornering feeling like the front and back of the thing was not really joined in any serious way, so was fully expecting this to be equally bad but unless I'm going soft in my old age it really is quite acceptable, still better than a defender I had a go in a while back-a ride akin to rolling down that hill in the hovis ad in a barrel!.not looked what springs are rob but I'm sure someone will know
.welcome to have a go in it Tom next time I see ya-assuming it hasn't exploded into a big pile of cogs and springs by then, to you this 2.5td will prob seen a bit underpowered and undergeared compared to the shogie but it does not bother us one bit, we had a lwb diesel 2.8 before which has long been our favorite, owners manual read and missus informed, thought they would be a warning sticker on top corner of door card about the 4wd, as the shogies have the super select info there but nothing. Unless some knobs pulled it off

Too dear really, plus I don't want anything that I'd be too precious about, as then I wouldn't want to use it as I use the Shogun now, e.g. dog goes in, rubbish goes to tip, fill it full of tyres, etc etc.

Should add in, it has no tax or MOT, needs work, and so is VERY cheap as otherwise we'd be keeping the good old 207k mile V6 faithful.

Superb bud, challenger has coils on rear, in fact one really new one and one old crusty one-not a great sign!
But when alls said and done its got intercooler turbo written down the sides which is nice!
