my mini has a thick layer of dust on it so was thinking of getting a snow foam lance and suds rather than rubbing the dirt into the paint.

I use a karcher lance, and use snow foam by auto finesse, not the cheapest but you get what you pay for! On 15th Jul, 2009 fastcarl said:

Neil, the plastic foam lances that you get with the karcher / nilfisk etc don't make proper foam, its just the consistency of say if you whent to the jet wash and covers the car in soapy water!!
