Hey everyone,
I know that its not customary to post up in the general section for this purpose so forgive my rudeness.

I am coming to the UK for a course in July, and I want to get the most of the visit from the mini perspective (I wont have a lot of time :()

First of all i wanted to ask if there is there are any mini oriented stores in London, I will be in the Paddington area..

Secondly,
I am building a turbo mini, and i wanted to ask for you opinion and help in finding the best gear for the job. I assume that the minimal requirement is a Straight Cut gear set, i want to hear your opinion, the budget is up to 300GBP for a new set (if anyone has a good used set for sale please contact me).

Last thing,
interesting question, if you had lived outside the UK with limited access to mini parts, what would have you taken when you came to the UK?

Cheers,
Naor

Minispares clubman SC gearset is 330GBP so pretty close to your budget.

I'd be looking for things that are expensive to courier so pistons, modified head, turbo & manifolds, plenum, carb etc.

Do you have a shopping list of what you need perhaps we can point you in the right direction?

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Minispares is located around London somewhere too, that's worth a definite trip for the gearset and any other larger parts they stock.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the info,
i'm coming for a week from the 14'th of July until the 20'th.

The Clubman SC set looks to be a good value for money, I think ill go for it :)
Regarding other items, i'm looking seriously into the turbo mini build and i'm looking for mini parts that will help me achieve that goal as standard mini parts and general turbo parts I can get here (actually, i already have a full fledged turbo set) and special mini parts that would probably be hard to get or ship :)

Other suggestions are most welcome, also nice places to see in the evening are great (i have a course in London so between 9am to 5pm i cannot really do that much :()

If time is limited just head straight to mini spares, they'll hold far more stock than the other supplies and the staff are a good bunch of guys.

I agree with the above, get as many of the heavy items as you can to save on postage.

Thanks for the advice, one more thing, taxi from my hotel to minispares potters bar - any estimation on the price? its approximately 18 miles on the highways.

Thanks again :)

Taxis In London are not that cheap also if you can't go anywhere between 9am and 5pm you won't be able to go to mini spares as they are open 9-5:30 I think or until 2pm on a Saturday. Probably cheaper to catch a train to as near to potters bar as possible the get a taxi to mini spares.

I don't know where you live, but minispares happily send stuff anywhere.

What you reall want to be thinking about is specific items that are hard to get abroad. Metro turbo bits for a start.

Hi Wil,
Minispares does send items anywhere in the world, but just as an example of how much it costs me - 4 shock absorbers (including shipping taxes etc. etc.) cost me 550GBP (standard SPAX ones, not fancy stuff).

Anyways, i will be at the marble arc area (exact hotel is not determined yet)..
