Apparently over 30 minis have recently been stolen and just vanished. All have been the classic style. Saw this on tv as I was having breakfast at work. Keep an extra vigilant eye out.

This is not a joke. Just saw a live test and it took 36 seconds to get in and start a mini

agreed, it seems to be a very current issue with classic minis again.

I'm certainly considering better security for mine

leeds/wakefield.

Ha Rob, you just reminded me of an article I once read in motorcycle news, ,some bike manufacturer had just brought out a full on race legal road registered thing,

but the journo testing it commented that whilst it was an immense thing it took three men to ride it,

one to actually do the riding , one to follow in a van with spares and spanners and one to hold it upright and guard it when the rider got off as it had no side stand fitted,

hopefully not so draconian measures needed with the minis .

Be nice to come up with ideas to stop car being stolen in the first place, GPS. yes but that's after the car has gone.

just cut one of there theifing hands off.
it'll only take a couple and people would get the message.

What the mind can conceive the mini can achieve
MITP 2012 17.01 seconds 1/4 mile against "The Don"
MITP 2013 16.83 seconds 1/4 mile

from previous experience, if a pro wants it, they will get it.

I suppose all the obvious stuff needs to be considered as a visual deterrent such as removable steering wheel etc.

I wasn't so worried about my car until recently and have added a few security measures, however my biggest concern is keeping its storage location secure as this is most likely to be the place it would walk from

Quarry Bonk

I'm quite lucky with where mine is kept, it's up atop a steep drive with walls either side. So it's nigh on impossible to hiab out. Difficult to move down the drive because of another car being parked behind it and a removable wheel going on it with an alarm and immobilizer to boot. I'm taking no chances as it's already been broken into once.
