Has Anyone ever seen or considered doing a twin turbo set up, I want to do something unique with my mini over the winter and figured why not try this, Put the Rad in the boot to save space up front and then two side mounts. I guess the major question would be what turbos to use, and probably(definatly) cooling issues. If anyone knows of any pics i could get examples from that would be amazing maybe just start off with a side mount on the left and a side mount on the right and see if its even feasable to fit them under the hood.

No. No-one has done it.

There is a pretty good reason why too; there are a lot of turbos available that match the characteristics of the 1300 engine for almost any output you desire.

But if you really want unique, then sure, forge ahead.

I recall someone talking about this years ago using a couple of Vauxhall TD turbos but I can't recall who, where or when.

as I say, can't quite remember as it was quite some time ago. It may have been something as stupid as 'they look small'. Knowledge has moved on quite a bit since then regarding turbo usage on the mini.

Here's the thing. You have 3 exhaust ports, one or 3 turbo is the only way.

Or you need an 8-port head.

Room would be a problem and usually prominently on large displacement & out put engines which otherwise wouldn't hit boost until 4/2moro revs
ie skyline 2.6 gtr *happy*
Go for the triple turbo mini though fella *wink*

Back on topic, you could try using a Saab ttdi turbo. Twin turbo in one package. Could work well.

What about one small and one large turbo? so rather than a twin turbo, it's more of a compound turbo. I'm hardly an expert, but as has been said, may be no better than a well sized single.

Use the search function before buying stuff from me...

stoke on trent

I know its nothing alike, but at work the new euro 6 iveco daily features twin turbo, one large one small, apparently smoothens out the torque line and is more eco friendly. Only gained 1 hp over the single turb on the same engine 3ltr (f1c) also now feature charge coolers instead of intercooler

I thought sequential turbos were only really used to eliminate lag on a large engine?
