Anyone had good or bad experiences with these? Prices seem to vary a lot on Ebay, so i assume quality must also vary.
Has anyone welded the flange straight to the turbine?

I would go for a a middle range vee band at around £26
Wouldn't bother welding it as of you where going to that hassle I'd go for a bolt on flange on either side

Pity your bollocks are in line with the flywheel!

the diameter that fits your turbo elbow and downpipe

48mm if its 1 7/8 (standard metty turbo i think?)
or
50mm if its 2" (maniflow downpipe)

i got the 2" one, will see if i can dig up the seller :)

Are you Bobby! You can get these through per tech I'm sure if not Google any aircraft parts supplier and they have these by the bucket.

If it is on the low pressure side, cheapies would be fine.

If it's on the pressure side ( ie pre-turbo ) always use good quality ones. The difference on some materials and more importantly the clamps can be huge.

One thing about 2.5", is they dont really seem to offer a dedicated 2.5" unit. The clamp is the same size as a 3" unit so fairly large, just the centre boss is much thicker to match up with a 2.5" pipe.

I used one on the end of the downpipe to join to the rest of the system. Spent ages finding one in 2.25" that was in the UK and didn't cost £40!!

Not put any heat through it yet other than welding. I was worried about distortion as I was welding it, but both flanges stayed flat and round. One thing I did do was overlap the tube into the opposing flange by about 5mm to create more of a labyrinth type seal against the natural flow direction of the exhaust gasses.

I used this type of joint as it is a more positive connection and extremely easy to dismantle in a hurry *happy*

Not exactly how you intend to use one Dave, but if they were more freely available, I'd have used at least another one on the downpipe up behind the engine

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

They defo do make fitting/removal much easier. Ive a couple on my exhaust.

In the US, they are much cheaper than the UK, and certainly quality ones are far more readily available.
Most sellers here just sell the cheap stuff.

Ideally weld them with the full band clamped up to try and reduce the chances of distortion. But they usually end up sealing well anyway.

I have one welded to the turbine. Pics in the topic called "my project car" by myself.

I have not tried it fully, but it was adviced as being the thing to do by the seller (did not pay extra for it)
