I think in 20 years from now, we'll all be desperate for cars with brake pedals that are hydraulically linked to brake calipers, steering wheels that have a direct connection to the track rods, throttle butterfly's that follow the same movement as the accelerator pedal 100% of the time, and engines that can turn off by disconnecting the electrical power at the ignition switch...

I wonder if they said the same thing about going from cable to hydraulic brakes and power steering? |

My corsa also has FBW throttle and it's awful, part throttle control is a nightmare on it!

That thing was done to highlight the trusted nature of a cars network, aye it looks shocking, but to gain access to the busses to do that damage you have to access the inside of the car, much faster to loosten a track rod end or brake pipe from underneath without even setting of an alarm. Tbo its practically an advertising stunt for the researchers.

Some citreons/pugs use a Cable to a unit that then converts it to fly by wire! why? the unit is about 1foot away from engine why not save copper time and resorces and use a cable done. |

Specialist Components now do a fly by wore throttle pedal to go with their ECUs. I'll bet that is better than the one in Carl's Corsa. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

Automation gone too far perhaps ??? San Fransisco plane crash a couple of weeks ago, train crash in Spain just yesterday, and many other examples, all relying on the computer to do the driver/pilot's job. (EDIT - typo) My thoughts. Exactley!
