OK, I'm trying to make the car as presentable as possible for MITP. I had originally spoken to Newton Commercial regarding getting a special carpet set made up (the companion bins have been removed in the back so a standard set won't work) but cash is a bit tight with a few other things happening this month (Audi is in getting new brakes all round today!!)

Does anyone know of a budget supplier who might be able to do a special? basically I would need the rear carpet section without the cut-outs for the companion bins and longer inner sill sections

Alternatively a budget supplier who would do a standard set with a roll of matching carpet so I can make the back section up myself.

Longer term, I'll get a better quality set installed so I'm only looking for something that will do a year or so and, given how much time i'll drive the car, about 3 miles road use!

cheers

Rob

Mini trimings was always a great help to me

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

finish date set for project 1... march 2018

Dare I say it, is it really worth putting one in there if it isnt what you want and is just for a short time

King Gaycharger, butt plug dealer, Sheldon Cooper and a BAC but generally a niceish fella if you dont mind a northerner

I've got a 'high quality' carpet set you can have. It wasn't so high quality, so came back out in favour of an original set. Will be putting it up for sale when I get round to it, but happy for you to borrow it until you get a proper one.

Nic, normally i'd agree but the floor is now covered in cables running to the boot and i'd quite like to hide the state of the patchwork floor!

Your best bet timewise might be to make a cardboard template and drive up to your local upholsterer to have them cut it for you off the roll. Trim the edges with some rubber trim strip and it looks a million pounds.

Alternatively you could use a piece of thin rubber-foam sheet (3 mm?) that you cut to size using your template and spray glue black speaker cloth on top which you fold/glue nicely over the edges. This is basically what they do to make Porsche RS lightweigth carpet sets fit nicely over lumps, bumps and electric wiring.

Good luck!

I like the second idea. Could be a winner
