lump idle means dmf needs changing

depends on the year of the a3. upto 04 cars are normally bullet proof. the first of the 8p generation occasionally have weaker cylinder head design that can sometimes crack 04 to 06 i think. Check the idle as wolfie mentioned, apart from that they are usually well behaved. |
