I've just been quoted £150 +vat to have my big ends reground to s size which seems a little bit on the expensive side to me, especially as ive got the cost of full working on top of that. *oh well* Can anyone recommend somewhere that do it for a reasonable price?

leeds/wakefield.

Paul ,please read what Matty is asking for and what it says on the MED site,

Matty wants his big ends taking down to S size or in English 1 5/8 dia, that's 3mm to be ground off the journals, Med are talking about standard regrinds to next available undersize,

Matty is asking for up to 12 times more material removing than MED are offering and this is why it is expensive , I recall paying a lot of money for a similar job.

Rumour has it [ I have to say that] but MED do not do any of there rank work in house anymore,i may be wrong and if I am Steve can always call me again and put me right, lol

the last time I looked into a regrind (not to s size either), I was quoted £140 +vat. ended up cheaper buying a brand new crank at the time

WRL London what company was that? I only paid £75 last time but I'm not sure what company did it now.

That's who I spoke to. Lol

I've spoken to him a few times before and he obviously knows his stuff with minis, but he didn't seem too interested on taking on the work and recommended someone else to do the grinding work then he'd do the wedging, blading balancing etc.. As a cranks not the cheapest part to post, I'd rather go to someone that can do the lot otherwise I'll be spending a fortune on posting and it'll ake forever to get done.

I'll try med and see what they say I think.

What about South Cerney engineering? Not a million miles away and I could meet you half way and take it to them to keep costs down?

Cheers for the offer Paul, I had a good chat with Neil today about some good companies around your neck of the woods. I think Neil's going to find out costs and let me know. It sounds like they do everything, so sending it would probably be the easiest/cheapest way to get it there.

Woolavington, Zummerzet

My machine shop charges about £100 + VAT for a straight regrind, so £150 sounds about right.

Metric is for people who can't do fractions.

having read this, I'm regretting not buying more of the new standard cranks that were on special a few years back for £100 each including shells.
