I made my one out of wood, most of it came from a skip. I am no wood welder but it's been fine for the last 6 years. I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Mine is from Nokia of all places, in their labs. It's a big metal table with a really solid 1" wood top. It's ugly, but it's bloody strong.

Don't get one form machine mart. They are wanky mechano jobbies and are not solid enough in any way shape or form. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

Only thing with MDF though is it can go shitty quick with fluids, just make sure it's painted thickly in some chemical resistant stuff. On 26th Jan, 2012 Tom Fenton said:

Mine is dexian, but wood would do for the frame. Then a kitchen worktop. The cheap worktops from B&Q, etc are great, wouldn't use them in the kitchen though. http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk

As above make one out of timber, brace the legs well though, use screws not nails.

I made mine out of thick planks of wood. Loads of storage underneath it for engine blocks etc. sturdy as a rock. My other one is an aluminium catering work top which was getting thrown out of a commercial kitchen. This one is great for welding on and grinding etc |

I've got one from an old engineering place. Need to bolt it to the wall though. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

Wooden frame well braced (6x2 because I had a load at the time, 4x2 would be plenty) and old kitchen worktops (because I was replacing the kitchen at the time). Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ??? |

Wickes off-the-shelf cheapie kitchen units (when they are on 50% off or better) and a nice thick piece of worktop (usually damaged on an end or bowed and marked down) work rather well.
Metric is for people who can't do fractions. |
