Hey Does anyone make/use a aluminum roll cage, I want some safety componants but dont want to sacrifice that much weight, any iders?

I'm sure all the alloy cages I've ever seen are just for show but I could be wrong

To make an Aluminium cage strong enough, it's have the to huge (as in massive diameter tubes).

The compromise would be just a rear cage, rather than a full one.

Installing a insufficient cage are dangerous. A rollcage is not that much waight enyway.

FIA banned aluminium roll cages years ago, unless the car was already log booked with it - like my mini!

A stronger cage can be made just as light from chrome moly steel.

Here's some weights of my Safety Devices 6 point bolt-in cage etc.
 
Roll Cage Rear with diagonal (not including nuts, bolts or plates) = 15 kg
 
Roll Cage Inner Floor Plates Main Hoop Pair = 0.646 kg
 
Roll Cage Outer Floor Plates Main Hoop Pair = 0.377 kg
 
Roll Cage Main Hoop Nuts, Bolts & Washers x 10 = 0.380 kg
 
Roll Cage Inner Floor Plates Rear Legs Pair = 0.697 kg
 
Roll Cage Outer Floor Plates Rear Legs Pair = 0.268 kg
 
Rear Roll Cage Legs Nuts, Bolts & Washers x 6 = 0.228 kg
 
Front Roll Cage Includes Nuts, Bolts & Washers (not floor bolts or plates) = 9.502 kg
 
Roll Cage Inner Floor Plates Front Legs Pair = 0.895 kg
 
Roll Cage Outer Floor Plates Front Legs Pair = 0.275 kg
 
Roll Cage Front Legs Nuts, Bolts & Washers x 6 = 0.228 kg
 
Roll Cage Door Bars Pair (Including all Brackets, Nuts, Bolts & Washers) = 5.0 kg
