Gives you a little more duration and initial lift.......

yep, as carl says,

it makes fuck all difference unless you have a cam that is reground to take advantage of the extra follower diameter

lifter bores are usually ok i think. you can have larger followers installed if you want to run very aggressive cam profiles as the diameter is the limiting step for the amount of acceleration you can get away with. Calver has a few race cams that use them

That sir, is not rust, it is the progressive mass reduction system

with the more aggressive ramp (Sir Yun and Joe) is it the bigger diameter against the follower bore that helps the follower 'slip' vertically rather than horizontally ( ie not get jammed) or something else. excuse poor explanation -

Surely if the follower is wider, the cam will start to lift it earlier ?

like i say at this stage this post is a just in case i need some over sized ones the shop is going to check them out and let me know im just trying to be one step ahead so im not told hey you need some over sized followers and be all shit where the hell do i find those.. id rather it be a matter of no prob and just order them in.

the cam rides in the center ish of the follower so how can a wider follower possibly make more lift? it cant simple
the gain is more stability in the bore for the aggressive cams but your adding weight to the thing as well member although its fractional..
all that has just been said above draw a straight line on some paopr and an egg shape below it like the follower and cam lobe are in the block you will see what im talking about there is no way of gaining more lift/duration

leeds/wakefield.

the need for a wide follower is to stop the nose of the cam falling off the edge ,

I have a pair of very high lift ,high accelerating cams in my twinnie,

these are on the limit for the followers
