can someone tell me what may be the correct ride height for a fast road mini suspension. I believe the correct way to measure is from the center of the wheel to the bottom of the wheel arches. so what should the height be ? and I would really be interested in the suspension height for a 1989 mini ERA. im told it should be 13 inches front n rear

Usually measured from cill to floor. And there's not one ideal height, as what works for one may not work for another due things like speed bumps and road surfaces. I'd find the largest obstacle you need to drive over regularly and then base your ride height somewhere around that, depending on how low you want it or not. I personally ran about a 30-40mm gap between arch and tyre on mine on 10's but I do plan on tucking the exhaust up and lowering it a little more, but I do have many speed bumps around my area.
Hope that helps somewhat!
Oh, tyre rub also plays a big factor, depends on your arch setup and wheel size too, tubbing the rear arches helps to relieve the rear end of rubbing or will help lower it that little bit more if needbe.

Just done someone's golf for them it is 82mm off the floor behind the front wheels, tyres are tucked into the arch and if goes over all speed bumps. I have done the same with my metro, 82mm so ou clear the 79mm speed bumps *smiley*

Speed bumps by law have to be a maximum of 100mm tall, so I dunno how you got 79mm, unless you went round measuring every speed bump in the area!
But then there's some I've seen that are obviously bigger, therefore that still falls foul of going by one height clears everything.

hey it works lol on the mini i never had a problem, i cant remember off the top of my head but it was not much more than 1 inch clearance, a narrow track and sort wheel base combined with tiny overhangs front and rear means getting over bumps is quite easy

bottom arms level with the road and straight drive shafts was a large part of the reason for the low height

Speed humps must be at right angles to the carriageway, be at least 900mm long, be less than 100 mm high and more than 25mm high and not have a vertical face exceeding 6 mm. Note that most speed humps in the UK are now constructed at 75 mm height due to most modern cars grounding on higher originals.

79mm is generally the hight once fixed into place.

loads of suspension travel mate, ride comfort was not bad imo, but helped alot by the 10ich wheels
handling was excellent, road legal and driven every week but not a daily drive

brett did you need to do anything to the front end for clearance? i know you tubed the back end but what about the front? just a light trim on the arch? think i might do the limbo also

i modified the hi-lows to allow it to go lower and trimmed the bump stops it has adjustable bottom arms and tie bars so the geometry could be altered
it has low hight upper front shock mounts aswell as low hight shock absorbers
arches and a panels trimmed much the same as fitting 13x7 wheels on

things like exhaust and gear selector housings are mounted higher in the chassis, tucked up into the tunnel
on the rear end it has a flat boot floor and no rear valance ( mainly for the diffuser) modified subframe, tubbed arches, modified boot floor where the radius arms sit modified radius arms aswell, its all modified for clearance to gain extra suspension movement,
