Evening chaps,

I'm about to inherit from a family member on the wife's side a Mk1 Mini Marcos. The car has never actually seen the road as it didn't get totally finished and has sat exposed to wind rain sun etc on a driveway for the past 30 years.

It is of course a non runner and things like the tires are that badly rotten yo can put your hand in them!

Anyway the idea would be a complete strip and rebuild, but before I go to the expense of getting it home is there anything I should be weary of in terms of the bodyshell, do they have any parts which fail? Or could there be steel reinforcement that corrodes etc?

Thanks for any pointers, if its a goer then the plan is a trackday turbo toy so will start a thread with pics etc once I have it.
Cheers

Mine had the problem that the frame mounts cracked. .. had someone who reinforced them withcarbon ffibre mats. Don't know if it was better because i crashed it 2 months later.. the as is to light for a good grip. Lots of back space for a mid mount engine monster though. ..

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

finish date set for project 1... march 2018

watch out for crazing on the shell. I bought my minus without realising how much corrective work is needed.
