As above, currently checking timing but seems to be ok.
What am I missing?

Was it running previously or first attempt?

I had to play about with the lead order on mine; can't recall off the top of my head what I did though

Has it ever run, or is it a new build ?

You say you have spark...on all 4 and at a time that would allow starting ?

speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

Fresh engine build, may have to play around with leads.
Inductive timing is showing spark on all 4.

Checked the timing with a light?

Is there a huge air leak on the inlet manifold and carb (Like evad1980's car) letting in so much air that it won't start.

Have you blocked off the overrun, lean off, vac advance etc pipes on the carb and any unused ports of the manifold?

In the 13's at last!.. Just

I would say lead order if it's not run as above.

That's what mine was and it fired first go after that.

So it's getting late here, just went down to fettle, swapped 1+4 and 2 with 3, a couple of backfire pops. PROGRESS!
Will wait until morning and do another swap and play around! Almost almost!

Leads from the coil pack should be 1:1 2:2 3:3 4:4 so you don't plug them in like a dizzy i.e. the firing order of the engine as it's wasted spark two will fire at the same time.

You could then always try the limp home mode and only use the EDIS module which gives 10 degrees timing IIRC. So should fire up and idle within the map in the MJ

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Also check your sensor gap.

you misunderstood. swap leads 1 and 4 with leads 2 and 3. if you swapped 1 with 4 and 2 with 3 and now its backfireing you have 100% got the leads on that coil wrong, as its wasted spark you should be able to swap 1 with 4 and 2 with 3 with no change atall.

plugs are 1432 still, now to finish the rest of the list of things!

a combination of taking out plugs, cleaning out cylinders, a touch of startyabastard and crossed fingers and toes and away he went!

I agree with evolution.
Proper connection from coil pack to engine is.
Coil pack- Engine
1-1
2-2
3-3
4-4
If you mixed up coil A and coil B outputs from MJ you get a backfire. To test connect this way.
Coilpack- engine
1-2
2-1
3-4
4-3

Been sitting for a while and just started another thread, d'oh.

Not starting now, played with some wiring earlier on in the piece, had to redo some plumbing, now doesn't want to play.

I know it sounds simple, but check the battery. If it's not got less 12 volts it won't start.
