Updating in advance of posting the For Sale Ad. Listing prior to final paint.
This has been an excellent project and I couldn't be more grateful to the TurboMini community for helping take me from clueless uni student, to a project I'm really happy with the end result!
Glossing over 5 years of work since the last update, but in summary;
Bodywork was completed on the rotisserie - all rot cut out fully, new panels welded in. Some small mods here to neaten things up - welded fuel and brake pipe retaining studs across the floor for super easy installation, and reinforced into the a panel box the body alignment brackets so that with a bolt in adaptor they are strong enough to jack and hold the car up.
Seam sealed everywhere, and then the underside primered and topcoated with UPOL Raptor, tinted the planned body colour.
With that done the brake and fuel lines could be fitted, as well as the rear subframe
Then paint the engine bay and dash body colour
Then the bit I had been looking forward to most - 10 years or part collection, machining work, and thought processes coming together in a giant lego kit
Fresh engine and guessworks rebuilt gearbox with RTS clutch ready to go
Everything painted in aerospace grade paints or treated with alocrome conversion coating or zinc plated (thank you work)
Powder coated refurbished front subframe, with Metro Turbo 4 pot brakes
Benross head, Mirage manifold and rebuilt T2 Turbo ready to go
Carb and AN6 aerospace grade fuel lines fitted
Bespoke wiring harness installed
First time outside under its own power in many, many years
It's off for paint this month, then final interior and exterior assembly.
