Now this is interesting!

I've never seen a crank that has been 'stamped' as CAM6581 - it's usually forged (raised) digits...

But - it looks to have the large radius between the primary gear bush larger diameter and the primary gear inner thrust face...

It'd be interesting to find out if this was an 'early' 6581 or a very late one...

Are they a rare item then these CAM6581 cranks ?

it would appear so - only found in metro turbo's - and only ones made after mid '86 at that...

The only thing I have noticed is my 6581 has been sat in the shed for a few months and shows no signs of rust, where as normal metal goes rusty in no time

SO what is the BIG difference then.. (Forged)? or just a better cast with bigger fillet radiuses.

Well, From my experience - you don't put a different number into a forging for the same basic machining and a different HT...
This suggests a different material to the 6232 crank.
Tom Fenton is on the case... *wink*

OK, to the top again. Is there anyone here who infact, can check this? I'd chip in for the expenses on such a test. Anyone else?
