bit of a long shot but has anyone got a magnetic oil trap knocking about? the one that goes on the back of the sump where that plate thing that holds the pickup pipe is? all i really need is the boss so that i can fit an oil temp gauge.

Why not just drill/tap the oil filter housing? Wouldn't this be easier? It's measuring the temperature of the oil before it hit's the main bearings after all?

Persoanlly, I'd leave as many magnetic traps in the A-series oil system as possible!

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

im going to just machine a flat block to remote mount the filter to bring the oil through 90degrees so it comes out upwards towards the plugs. put a temp sender in that then.

Everyone knows that instructions only have to be read if the thing doesn't work....

yeah, but the threads are probably stripped, the face is warped and it'll be held on with halfords 'glass' instant gasket...

Yes, there is a magnetic thingy, but I was thinking of fitting an oil temp gauge there...

Dave, everyone else suggests fitting the oil temp sensor in the sump, to read the mean sump temp, NOT the one feeding the mains.. I haven't decided yet, but keep the suggestions coming....

I think I miss understood you simple boy! I thought you meant add a sandwich plate between oil filter housing and block, and tap thread into there?

thats another easy option, only thing is it will bring the oil filter out. not much harder to put the remote filter in, honest *smiley*

its easier than i thought.
