NOt to worry Dave,

whereabouts are you? And is it of the later single-bolt-on-each-side type?

are you sure this is what you need?

an auto subframe is no good for a manual car its totally different, isnt it?. unless your building a auto turbo mini that is.

and if your building a manual turbo you dont need to move the engine forward, but if you wanted to just drill engine mounting holes further forward on your normal subframe.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

And moving it forward gives you less room at thte front (obviously *happy*). Its at the front where you need the space for the intercooler etc. Its not that tight at the back plus i believe it then leaves your driveshafts running slightly out of line which isnt good.

kent

you need a slightly longer rod change on an spi subframe (ie an spi rodchange!), auto subframes are just wider so you need block spacers i think, pain in the arse really!

Oh dear.... well I think I sourced an mpi Rod-Change, as I found an accident-damaged MPi on another forum.

Didnt kno that the auto 'frame was wider... though the difference was just in that the engine was mounted 1 inch forward.

My idea is to fit the mirage kit, and the intercooler will be sitting on the rocker cover, and an mpi radiator will be up front. No distributor, courtesy of megasquirt.

I'm not too sure about drilling new holes on a normal subframe, as the original holes would be quite close, and this could lead to cracks...

That's why I want to use factory solutions and components, to keep modifications to a minimum and make t easier to find replacement parts if things go wrong.

Are the driveshafts set at an awkward angle on an MPi?

There is pently of room without moving the engine forward on a mirage kit so your just loosing rad/intercooler space.

I'm running a std subby and a mirage kit (well its in bits...)

Iain, will you be tilting the engine however? I don't want to tilt the engine... the driveshafts wouldnt be too happy!

I dont think i'll need to tilt, got a full width bulkhead box in.

I just want the space at the front to fit a rad and intercooler in rather than at the back. *smiley*
