HIF44 1.75" carb

Ive got my HIF44 1.75" carb of my car, so going to change the gasket's..
You know the part on top of the carb, that bit you place the oil in.
Is there a gasket for the bottom part that goe's on to the carb it self.. if you know what i mean...
Plus, is there anything i should change for new on the carb etc..
Like needle, etc ?

do you mean the dash pot?
its held on with 3 screws.
if thats what you mean then no it doesnt have a gaskit.

Unless it's a turbo carb in which case there's an O ring either on the main carb body or the edge of the dashpot.
Mark ... Unless the carb is almost new , I'd go for a full service kit with a new needle and jet

Yeah dash pot.
It Doe's have a black ring on it..
Would that need changing then.
So would you call my carb a HIF44 turbo carb, or just HIF44 carb ?
Which needle to i go for.. ?

Hi,
If you've got the o ring on the bottom, then it's a turbo carb, as the O ring was only fitted to turbos.
The turbo service kit is the one you want, or better still the rebuild kit listed underneath.
As for needle, take the old one out, and there will be 3 letters on the top of it. That's what you need to know to order the new one.
Take a look at this for how to info ....

Looking at the picture for the service kit the jet is in the kit. The rebuild kit contains all the parts in the service kit "plus the spindle and disk and bushes" CRK269

I called them up, and they said the jet wasn't in the rebuild kit.. he didn't even seem to have a clue ? i wouldn't have to buy the service kit just to get the jet would i ?

I just rebuilt mine yesterday, The service kit from minispares DID include the jet (not the needle) I would assume the rebuild kit also includes it.

As far as I could find out the only difference between service and rebuild kits was the shaft and butterfly.. and almost 20 quid!!

Only problem I had was that I couldnt get the float spindle out to replace the needle valve because it was the tamperproof type head. my carb was in fine shape so I just left it alone..
