Well I pop out in the mini today, weather was nice, at last! only for the below to happen, I'm doing bloody well of late! Still it could have happened miles away I guess.

I went to see my Gearbox technician other wise known as Turbo Hogster, and he let me take the spare part from his OWN car!!!! (thanks so much buddy)

this all adds up nicely for me not to run at Avon or ever, ever or ever again!! lol, i guess i could always turn the boost down a bit.... no can't do that can we.

not a hugh problem realy. and not a big surprise really considering that your shafts have probably had more stick than any other a series shaft i can think of.

easy fixme thinks or did it damage something else

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Yes Rob i can see what your saying, that would have been very bad if it had gone on the strip. 13s, lol be nice could manage it last year.

Very Ture Bat, lol, i did break a finger nail as well the other day *wink*

Yes carl i was pleased to see it gone TBH, i thought it was another box, this was the funny thing, there was NO noise of it flapping around at over 6,000 rpm or when i tried to get drive!, so I hope it's just that!!! Will see tomorrow.

I thought it was serious from the title!

With the ammount of power you have, I thought that you would be changing these after every run!

In the 13's at last!.. Just

Hi,
Weld a big bolt to it, clamp bolt in vice, impact engineering will then remove the CV *wink*

I'm with Bat, I reckon you could get that stub end out of the CV

Although if it has bust the shaft, and going on JF's experience with his race metro, would it not be wise to replace both perhaps??

The exact same thing happened to Ben's Allegro, so not necessarily a power related problem.

For the price of a CV, might be worth changing while you're at it.

You sure you havent made an excuse not to run at avon by using an angle grinder on the shaft? LOL

Looks bad but Look at the good points:

It had to go sometime so its good it broke

And second at least it was well greased!!!LOL

mini13, the CVs are not the problem it was the shaft that broke.

Al, no mate been lucky, not done one before.

Hell, Wil, I'm in good company then! I won't tell to many people that the shafts can brake on an Allegro to, doesn't sound to clever lol.

Carl, yes i have thought about this, as being now around 800 kgs (with spare tools in ect) It can't be good for the parts to push it along, and being ligher must be less stressful.

Right I'm going to avon then, As T3 is right he'll never get there, and i want to see the old boy run!

minimadj, I only went in 1/2 inch with the grinder, thought but lighering these it might help lol.

Matt, i know the CV was ok, I meant from the pint of view that the shafts are stronger, although now i think about it don't minispares do shafts that havent got the inner ring groove machined in and just have a ring tack welded on..?

i'm of to take a look...

they do but they are expensive and out of stock...

http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?pid=32718

details here...

http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?pid=36534

Be interesting to see if this is where it broke.
