I'm pretty sure that you need to have an even number of headlights. So I'd say that you need to keep both. Tim Rowe

No you don't require any headlights at all by law but you would be breaking the law if you drove in the dark |

But you still can't have one headlight. And technically you can drive at night with just sidelights in well lit areas. Tim Rowe

My uncle is an MOT inspector. His way of explaining it is that it doesnt need anythink on it to pass an mot. However all of these things must be disconnected for it to pass. Back once again like a renegade master |

Hi, Read here... If it's pre '72 you only need 1! Always check the book.... Cheers, Gavin :) But that's no good for a mini as it isn't less than 400kgs "Vehicles first used; . before 1 January 1972, or . on or after 1 January 1972 with . an unladen weight of 400kg or less, and . an overall width of 1300mm or less require only one headlamp." The thing about that milk float is that it has one central headlight and two side lights. The only reason I can see that you would want one headlight is so that when the police stop you every five minutes for only having one you can tell them to piss off. Not much of a reason mind. And although it isn't mentioned in that blurb, I suspect a single headlight would need to be centrally mounted. It goes on about correct position, but dosen't specify what correct means (I guess it's written somewhere else and I can't be arsed looking) Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

how about a daytime MOT and just have your headlamp holes blanked off, that would give both plod and the MSA scrutineers something to think about, lol |

re sidelights -these are regarded in law as parking lights only and may not be used as running lights on their own.Probably showing my age, but (one of)my pet hates is sidelights with foglights -this almost defines chav for me. |
