was it the rocker box cover gasket ? sometimes they weep a bit if they are not seated propperly.

Did Jordie not check it for you when you had it up on the ramps when he was dissing my miss aligned Hi Lo. psml ?.

check the oil, if it is "Milky" then it is contaminated with water, and a sign of a head gasket.

personally for the "Hick/gargle" i would start simple and clean ure air filter, and check all the HT lead ends for corrosion, a flat battery....hmmm have you left the lights on again ? are you sure its a flat battery ? ie checked it with a meter, the reason i say is the positive wire from the battery comes under the boot floor then along the floor pan, where it bends at the heel board the plastic tends to split and water gets in, the wire corrodes and you end up with a poor connection.

dont think that would effect it when running but am not sure.

i 8nt touched ure engine so cant get blamed for that one :) iam all ready carrying the saddle for ure exhaust (which is perfectly fine) and the nearside hi lo not quite being lined up. (my bad, but we did do it in the pitch dark using ure phone as a light scource......yeeeeeehaaaa) *happy* hehehehe

lastly where did you fuel it up, and have you been running the tank really low ? just if you are, you end up pulling loads of shite from the bottom of the tank into the carb.

mind 5 - 6 k you must be ringing its neck..... 5k and change gear matey

you have posted it on the right forum bro, someone here will have the answer !

We need to establish it it's the head gasket or the rocker cover gasket.

Oil pissing out of the rocker cover gasket is common, oil pissing out of the head gasket is bad news.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

before i left from work i checked water... fine but oil was a bit below the min *indifferent*

as for petrol, i got lost the other day, ended up at some services and had 2 kinds of unleaded... exellium ? or super premium ?? i got the super premium *tongue*

anyways its topped up with oil, im just waiting for it to settle so i can check i aint got too much in this time ! its seems not long ago i topped it up ! no leaks as far as i know, well i aint had my mam on my back about the block paving yet *wink*

Hi,
Oil level will only be correct when the car is level, put it on a hill and you'll get a different reading.
It may not be a flat battery, it could be water getting into the cylinder, stopping the engine turning over.
Can you take the spark plugs out?
If so see if one of them is very clean, if so you have a problem :(
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Could be a knackared battery causing a weak spark on load (when you put your foot down *wink* )

Have you got access to a multimeter or voltmeter?

As for the oil level, I'd check the height of the oil on level ground. Clean the head with a rag or something, especially around the plugs and keep an eye on it. At least if the head is reasonably clean you can tell if the oil is running down from the rocker cover or coming from the head gasket. *oh well*

to release the oil from the sump, is that the small bolt at the rear of the sump ? its like on a little extended part of the sump with the nut on the end facing the rear of the car ?

sorry to sound so thick !

The sump plug is below and behind the starter motor.

Should be a 24mm socket or 15/16 IIRC.

Tom has anyone been dicking around with ure head studs or anything....to say make a point about an exhaust or summit ? just seems alot is going wrong with it since folk had it up on ramps for you ? they didnt mess with the engine did they ?

if you take the sump plug out, by rights you should replace the copper washer.

it will burn away eventually, if it botheres you, we could drop the oil out a touch, but you have been advised to keep me away from the car, after a miss-aligned hi lo, and apparently summit is wrong with the exhaust psml

maybe a beam axel will solve all the issues ? (just kidding mate) if you trust me to try and help, iam always here, and my garage door is always open.......no really it is !!!
