Hey Fella's

Well, wheels are in motion (so to speak)
The plan was 998 screamer... 18-20psi for me but im holding off on the 998 idea.

I currently have a N/A 1132 which we just ran at the 1/4 mile. Pulled 18.6 @112km/h which I was happy with for an N/A 1132...

Now I have decided to change to an RE13T cam and bolt my turbo bits to this motor... only going to run 7psi or 8psi as it has about 9.5 compression as is.

Specs for the mod.
- 1132cc
- Fully ported 202 head by GR, 1100s valves, 8000rpm double valve springs, 1.3 roller tipped rockers
- Fully rebuilt stock rod change gearbox but 3.765 diff (might be interesting) - I have a spare 3.44 in case
- Hypatec +040" Pistons and hastings rings
- Wedged, balanced crank
- Lightened, balanced rods
- Lightened balanced flywheel and back-plate
- T2 Hi-Flowed turbo sitting over the clutch housing
- HIF44 Metro turbo carb
- Custom headers (thanks to Benjamin)
- Intercooled
- Metro Turbo intake and plenum but ill try to run Graham Russells RE7 intake thats on now (if I can clear firewall with a HIF carb)

What do you guys think?
Comments?

Thanks,
Pete

Does it use a high comp head?
Get it up and running with your setup that youre gonna use then if you want you can always change the head for a lower c/r one

Thanks Wil, Jordan.

Ill hopefully have it done in a couple weeks, waiting for GR to grind my cam and Benjamin is finishing the dump pipe.

Should be sweet. I have a spare 202 head, GR will work that one, but not just yet... if things go well and it holds together ill up the boost *wink*

Hey, question: The smallbore turbo owners - Are you having head gasket issues? I heard about solid copper gaskets or something... what do you recommend. (Maybe head gasket blowing is good insurance though, better than pistons or crank letting go)

Pete.

I would say that I have been through a lot of head gaskets on the hillclimber, but I think this problem is now cured (a combination of a shit torque wrench and pushing the limits). We use a BK450 on the hilclimber as it has a 12G940 head.

On my daily drive 998 turbo running 1/2 the power and boost of the hillclimber I run a copper 998 gasket (295 head), done 1500 miles and no problems yet.

Is that solid copper?

I have an ACL VRS Gasket CP250MT is the part number... its the same as what Benjamin is using.

Should handle the 7-8psi ok... until I get carried away and increase boost *happy*

Actually, another question, when you say net 100 bananas, do you guys talk in flywheel HP or rolling road HP? Just curious... here in aus they talk both.

this is the head gasket I use http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?pid=37141

As for power, I always quote bananas at the flywheel (which should be the figure you get of any decent RR anyway).

You will also notice we quote bananas rather than bhp, this accounts for RR variations.

Hey Lads,

Update:

Here is the work that has been done

From Ben:
Manifold is made from 25mm steam pipe , called buttweld elbows at one steel, there fairly cheap and easy to work with and come in differend sizes and angles. Probly no use for N/A but perfect for turbo as they are a medium wall (3mm) so no flex or cracking.

Enzed made the custom feed for the turbo, and the dump pipe is done , so all thats left is the intake pipe and the oil drain , should be already this weekend and if everything else is ready we can fit.

Resident Cylinder Head Modifier

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

Personaly i would opt for the 940 head 33 inlets and 29.5 exhaust modded head with race valves

with the block pocketed

this combination togeather with a 266 kent cam

the power output will be in excess of 150 bhp+++++++++++ *wink*

anyway very nice pete

Can I ask why a 940 head? My 202 has been extensively ported by Graham Russell... its flowing better than 12g295
It has 1100s valves turned down, and ported, plus chambers opened up to his specs.

I am genuinely interesting in info about going the 940 head.

Peter.

Personally, I would stick with the head you have got.

The 940 head is probably better for all out max performance, but you would have to pocket the block to fit it.

I think that the sharp edges on the pockets could be contibutory to pre-ignition.

Proof is that your mate benjamin has produced 140hp on a 1098 on 10psi with the 295 head.
