I really don’t like blowing my own trumpet...But.....
We are selling piston sets currently across the world.
Freight to UK is $65AUD (approx $28 pounds) each set but this could be discounted if multiple piston sets where purchased.

Have a look at our piston range at:
http://www.minisport.com.au
We have even more sets including 998+080/100 plus more

I don’t think we have too much else (maybe some exclusive Australian bits) to offer you as the freight is a bit of a killer, but have a look you may be surprised.

Email me with any queries

A few quick questions:

1) Do you know the distance between the top of the piston and the first ring? (sorry I can't remember the correct name)

2) How do they attach to the gruden pins? (interference fit or do they need cir clips / buttons to hold them on)

3) Do you sell standard 998 pistons? and are the dishes in the 988 pistons also 6cc?

Now look what you made me do, I'm supposed to be revising and instead I'm looking at pistons.

Do they have holes or slots under the oil control ring? (1275 & 998)

998 pistons are circlip (make sure the circlip is around the right way)
1275 are 'press' fit
All of the piston sets are around the 6-7cc exept the 998 plus 080/100/120 - these are flat tops
Currently can not get 998 STD (not sure when/if)

998 side picture is:

998 dish:

1275 side picture is:

1275 dish

I will get 'back' to you with accurate measurements of the piston centre of gudgeon to top of piston and first ring to top of piston measurements.

Unfortunately the 998 pistons pictured above are not the same as those marketed by Minispares.

Those slots are a real no-no.

They look like standard replacement pistons. Not suitable for Turbo use in my opinion.

EDIT: The pictures above are not the best available - see my next post below.

http://www.minisport.com.au/prod28.htm

114 thou is about 2.89mm

70.61mm (standard bore) + 2.89mm = 73.5mm aka 1380cc engine.

[EDIT] Just noticed that the ad says 1380 in brackets in the title, still at least it confirms my maths [/EDIT]

This is what I expected to see:

http://www.minisport.com.au/prod1092.htm

Had me worried for a bit.

These have a bigger gap between the top ring and top of the piston as well.

A few people have had problems recently such as Richard but i dont think its down to poor piston design, possibly a bad batch? Others eg Giallofly run 200 bananas with no probs

Hi,
Aren't people having problems with the Mega pistons? These are the Hypatech ones, or are they the same thing with a different name?
Cheers,
Gavin :)
