Hi Iain, im sure i can get this for you, my dad is the director of the company that makes the heating elements for all this kind of stuff.. sure they supply GHD.

The question you have to ask is, if the GHD got hot enough to blow the thermal fuse, the heating element is goosed, so fitting a new thermal fuse will not rectify the fault but rather the symptom?

Iain for the good of your sanity im willing to donate some thermal compound and tape..lol I guess the tape your after is the fibre type (heat proof). The tape we use at work is £100 a role, not the kind of stuff you want to be buying for a one off job
