Hi all well so far ive had the block bored to 73.5, ive welded in the blanking plates had both the head and block skimed, ive drilled the block for the new stud holes and water ways and am now in the process of working out the valve cutouts, took posetion of a Specialist components K head kit, which i must say is a well engineered kit for the price only going to be N/A for now then turbo later on hoping to have it up and running for minis vs beetles at york.

Spec is
1380 11:1 compretion
SC CR box with a x-pin diff 3.44:1
wedged x-drilled nitrided crank
ultra light flywheel with ultralight back plate rotating asembly also balanced
190mm organic plate with grey diphram
lightenend and balanced A+ rods
running megasquirt and 34mm bmw throttle bodies
K1100 rs 16v head with 256 cams

this all started when my turbo engine droped a valve which is the reson its a 1380 as this was the smallest rebore to get rid of the valve marks in the bore will post pics off the distrution when i find where ive saved them

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Hi Wizza - nice to see you getting stuck into it - going well so far - keep the red block they are far faster than the others!

I'm looking forward to seeing you at York

needing the car on the road and money means no turbo yet, but it will come,
quik question the way i measure it if im right my piston cutouts could be deep enough that in the event of a cam belt snap the valves are clear even at full lift, has anyone else done cutouts this deep around 5mm inlet and 4mm exhaust, being a 1380 well clear of the piston sides.

quik update today will consist of trying to get pistons on rods and a lot of cleaning ready for the build to comense. after dry building the engine last night it is posible to cut out enough piston so in the event of a cam belt failure or it coming off i will have no bent valves, in my engine this equates to 5.5mm inlet pocket and 5mm for the exhaust pocket, thought it might aswell be bullet proof*wink*

Hi,
You'll be able to get a lot of work machining pistons if you can do them in less than six months *wink* lol
You're doing a top job there :)
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Nice work - I always run 5mm cut outs in "normal" cammed engines - looking good - you'll have it running before end of Jan!

Hi block rods and pistons are all one now just on cleaning the box out as it contains the remains of my old piston no damage though which is luky. The dish in the pistons was 7cc its now 10cc which leaves me with 10.65:1 comp was hoping for 11:1 but thats close enough cant waight to hear it fire up some more pics shortly.

Excelent progress!

looks really good, still to red for my liking, (reminds me of Carrie lol)

impressed by the cleanliness of everything

Must say I never realised it would be possible to machine the cutouts deep enough to prevent carnage sould the belt go, i really like that.
