after only having one car ever since i passed me test i've gone and bought meself a daily driver at long last. the gearbox in the mini letting go finally was what tipped me over the edge. this way i can keep the mini in the garage and doo all the bits i wanted to without having to rush it.

Got meself a honda CRX anyway, its a bit ratty and needs de-barrying a bit but for the few hundred quid i had to spend i can't really complain.

Just off outside now to try and get the front end lined up properly cos its had a front end shunt at some point and had the bumper/bonnet thrown at it by the looks of it.

Its a D16 isnt it,

non vtec-which i do believe lend themselves to turboing very very well.....

But even without the turbo theyre still a very rapid machine, theres not much between the vtec and non engines (what ever people say), annoyingly my mates mk1 crx with that engine was a match for my clio 182 up until 90 or so (i.e. most road situations)

my friend had a electronic v-tec one with 4 people in it pulled well and even wheel span, but did enjoy rusting for fun
not sure what the size of the engine was tho

Yeah its a D16a9 which is just a 16v DOHC non Vtec, the vtec ones go for silly money still. Supposed to run 130bhp as standard but this ones been remapped apparently, got the RR printout for it which is showing 144hp now and the torque is there from 1500rpm all the way across.

Funny you should mention turboing them Nic, i've already been looking into it, lol.

Kean and me got the front end lined up a lot better now and painted the bumper and bonnet aswell today, its amazing the difference a couple of tins of paint can make. It started raining as we were painting the bonnet though so its still streaky, i'll stick another coat on it when the weather gets a bit better.

Nice buy, I had the civic hatchback version of this for quite a while and it always put a smile on my face and the passengers!

There is loads of great info on them on www.4guk.co.uk and crxuk.

Well 10 out of 10 for making it look much better, even just spraying the bumper red transforms how it looks. Are you going to paint the silver slam panel red too?
