agreed to buy something off ebay but as a "off ebay" type deal but the man says his paypal isnt working so that means id have to send him a cheque. its £250. are cheques still safe to use these days and is there any comeback if you dont get your item. blokes got good feedback but its to far to pick it up.
no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

thats what my gut instinct says, i dont like cheques. you wouldnt send anybody your bank details would you but thats what your doing when you send a cheque arent you.

I'm not a fan of cheques, as I've had a couple of seller tel me the cheque hasn't arrived, but when I chequed with my bank the cheque had been cashed.

iirc you can buy fraud security from paypal its like £2.50 a month or somthing silly like that. i would go paypal or cash, and i dont know how his paypal "isnt working" if his wasnt working no ones paypal would.. Drives

Surely if you're buying "Off eBay" in the normal sense of that phrase, PayPal protection wouldn't cover you anyway as the eBay rules have been broken.

I'd only pay by cheque as much as you could afford to lose TBH, especially "off ebay" although it has to be said ebay are not interested in the event that you do get ripped off anyway.

I got ripped off early last year sendin a cheque for an item I had bought from e bay, never again, paypal or cash on collection!
