seems pretty good. only thing is how hard/expensive is it to get the bottle refilled? obviously this is alot better than just using a fine mist of water but if its rediculously expensive to get it refilled (i know you are only going to be using a very fine mist at a time but you are going to have to refill it at some point) is it really worth it over say a water mist system with either a seperate rad so as that cools the water in the system or a tank that you could put aload of ice in with the water to help lower the temp of the water that is being misted?

its cheeper than nitrous i know that much, and lighter than a big tank of water. i thought the kits were of quite a reasonable price. Drives

The fire extinguisher IS the CO2. Edited by Jordan on 15th Feb, 2008. Back once again like a renegade master |

Its meerly a trick that drag racers have used on turbo cars for years and years. Spray the intercooler just before a run with CO2 fire extinguisher (powder is a no no) and get into the -*c's

I belive co2 kits when activated to spray intercoolers turn them into a block of ice or "dry ice" making the charge air cold. Ice that comes from co2 from the expanding gasses form the dry ice. I was speakin to someone at work who looks after our fire extinguishers he reckons £15-£20 for refills. Another thing to be carefull of i suppose is where the air intake is situated, you wouldnt want it sucking in co2, not got good for power! |

Water spray is almost free, and easily replenished, and if done correctly, Id say works pretty damn good...

You have to ascertain that the weight of the system is worth the sometimes negligible power gain though .

I've done a bit of searching on line and I've found a circuit for controlling a water spray based on air temp & engine load with both turn on & turn off hysteresis. I've done some quick & dirty maths and I reckon that if I was to build a batch they'd come to about £20. so the question is would anyone be interested? If so I'll look into it a bit more when I'm back in the UK (just over a week's time) I might make one for myself anyway. Isambard Kingdom Brunel said:

well you'll never find one of them on my car. I did some test on the rolling road, and my advice is not to fit one. Best 1/4 mile 13.2 seconds @116 mph

Matt if it's "Everyday Practical Electronics" (Jan 08) I've found a copy on line, if it's a different article could you get me a copy as it's always good to compare designs. Can't do much with it for a week or so mind as I'm off to France in a few hours. Isambard Kingdom Brunel said:
