Is it true that having a ceramic turbine wheel limits you to about 15 psi boost?

Thanks

Tom

If its on a Skyline, apparently it does... I guess this is stated for a reason.

Has anyone bothered with a ceramic wheel on a mini yet??

making a wild assumtion here.... I have been lead to belive that ceramic wheels fail as they are brittle, given that a skyline turbo is going to be pretty big if the turbine was scaled down to a useful size for a mini it would be cosiderabley stronger, (like a small pane of glass verses a big pane of glass) so it should live to higher pressures.

are ceramic wheels avvailable in smaller sizes?

Well the T3 I got has a ceramic wheel,or so I was told.
I only know cos I tried to sell it to a guy for his diesel and he opened it up and said it was a no go. Apparently diesels and ceramic wheels don't mix.

Never heard of a T-series with ceramic wheels ????

Ceramic wheels are good in theory. Unfortunately spin em too fast, and they fall apart.

Skylines, Toyotas, they all the same. Fragile as anything.

Just repeating what someone told me.

i'm pretty sure a magnet won't stick to most turbine wheels steel or ceramic. el potter do you know what the turbo is from or have you got the part number to check?

ceramic bearings would be a better bet i think.

alot less drag so a bigger blower trim could be used, but they are damn expensive.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Ceramic ball bearings and a caramic turbine wheel are 2 different things, but trying to achieve the same goals ( freer spinning wheels )

they are made of a non metalic material so it won't stick, also ceramic turbines don't have a nut on the end as its friction welded to the shaft instead.

heres pic of a garrett ceramic turbine from a skyline for comparison you can see the 12 point 'nut' which isn't a nut and is actually part of the wheel itself
