The fact that those indents on the side could lead to a fracture in turn leading to a couple less teeth?

Itd do a normal powered mini, yours in another league though.

i think its shagged and it looks new as well so could it be poor quality?

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

As others say, possibly due to poor surface hardness of the matl?

If thats a newish MiniSpares part, get on the phone to them as they are having issues with their quality at the moment regarding gears

Well here's the thing. And it's NOT as mini spares part, just to clear that up.

This part is BRAND NEW to me anyway, from a well known company, that i believe are _UCKING ME AROUND!

i've Sent them a photo, well the one above, and asked them if this was ok, the got back to me and said on the phone that it's all ok and it's been , i think they said "de burred" that make it like that, now i've never EVER seen a new product like this before and if ia big company says it's ok, little old me can't do much about it, but i want to get the expert opion from you metal lot on here.

YES mate that's how i got it, and T3 tone can back me up as he saw it.

trouble is like a COCK i've fitted it as they dicked me around with one before this giving me one with an extra tooth, so by the time i got this one i was right up against it time wise. I thought deep down it wasn't right, but they said it was so...........err All redone and it might still break again! _ucked off.

So where do i go from here, they said it's ok , do i wait for it to break? I don't mind if a part break it's it's as it should be, BUT I'm not happy if it break cos its shit to start with.

There is no way i would be fitting a part that looked like that, new or not. I have stripped a 78k mile standard box and the gears looked better than that!!

Mind you, i have worked at a major motor maufacturers trannsmission plant, seized one of their grinding machines, so what did hey do, rebuilt that machine with parts from the fifth in the line, and left one of the grinding processes out to get production running again. Puts new meaning to 'A Friday afternoon car'

Some process has been left out in the manufacture of that, whether it was the speed the gears were cut, ripping the metal, or the finnal grinding, something si not right with them!!

As for debur, bollox! if anything thats made it worse.

Slightest nick in the teeth of our high speed transmissions at work and its replaced, and making that decission is not done lightly when the main bull gear costs 7k and the highspeed shaft costs 10K

Your not goig to tell us who made these I can tell, but seing as there are only a couple of UK maufacturers it shouldnt be hard to work out

looks like the gear cutting tool was fucked mate when they made that one, it may but will it last well it certainly wont last as long a a decent one.

any yes you would have thought that the company involved would have known better than that.

I wouldn't risk using that TBH. If they don't sort you out with AT LEAST a replacement gear then name and shame.

Is it just the one gear or is the whole set the same? If its just the one gear you could ask them "if its supposed to be like that, how come the others are different"?

Looks like gear from a 80,00 mile mini with a forgetful owner. (forgets to replace oil or use the clutch pedal)

This is just unacceptable. Name and shame if they refuse to take it back.

Well guy thanks for your imputs, sadly you have confirmed what inside i was trying to NOT listen to, but i get so down when the cars out of action i just needed it fixed. Looks like i'll be calling then Tuesday, I just can't see how i can move forward with it, were they have already said it's fine when i clearly isn't! Like you say Matty any of the others gears i've ever owned have NEVER been like that from new.
