Mate had bits off his mini van stolen last night.

they stole the rear doors, ventilator off the roof, rear silencer, bumpers and headlights. The vans only been back at his house for a week after he spent a fortune having it restored. The really bad thing is it rained heavily last night and the whole interior is sopping wet, with about 2inches of water in the footwells

Luckily most of the parts stolen he has spares for but the ventilator for the roof he hasn't got. Any one know anywhere apart from somerford mini spares where he can get another?

What makes things worse is the mini is stored in the garden under a lean-to which you get to by driving the mini through the garage (no gate to the garden). the garden is even surrounded by other gardens so how the hell did they get in and out so easily

Would have needed quite some time too to unscrew that lot.Ask the neighbors if they heard or saw anything suspicious.

its pretty specific stuff they took so must have known about the van. Sound like someone local to me

Look out for any other vans in your area, or if you know of any do a bitof snooping about. Also keep a look on ebay.

the shop he got the gear from methinks....... no way your commoner gardener crim would take that not even a glimmer of a chance, so it is either

A) stolen to order
B) stolen by an unscrupulous mini van restorer (doubtful)
C) insurance job (no offence matey)
D) the shop he got the clobber from / or where he had the van restored has some dodgy folk.

things that dont ring true for me is they spent alot of time removing the gear without damaging the shell, removal of this gear is not straight forward and very high risk of being caught

if i was taking details i am affraid i would be wondering if option C had taken place, it is too specific with little yeild for such a high risk theft. sorry to be sinical but the numbers dont lie.

however if your man is mr clean 100% like mike says find where all the local mini clubs are and check for vans. tell the club chair peeps that your man has had items taken and leave contact details. get onto ebay and monitor for the items coming up for sale and also the mini mags.

REALLY GOOD NEWS!

I stayed over my friends house over the weekend on a hunch the hoodlems who stole bits off his new van would be back.

IT PAID OFF!!!!!! :):)

Caught the nasty little **** red handed. After a small scuffle at 2am the evil little butt monkeys were quickly apprehended. Police were called and they've all been charged. And on a plus we got all the parts back in the condition they were taken off in.

SO in all a good weekend


Richie - I know what you are saying. I understand that it definately sounded like an insurance job. Im glad to say it was never the case. The parts were found in a lock up with lost of other mini parts. From the police report, it looked like the parts were stolen to order. The only thing that wasn't there was a shell to put them on.

seems that WSM are on the ball and quicker rhan in swindon, we have cars and parts of cars in our soco bay waiting for police to release them for weeks now, how did you manage to get the parts back so quickly?
