Hi all,

as some of you know i have had this for a few years now and was dry built last year, paint applied to keep the rust away and to test if i had the skills to do a whole car.. since then i moved house and just had a garage built.. so no excuses to get this finished. Over the past 12 months i have been gathering more parts and new ideas so its being rebuilt.

I haven’t carried out much work on the car for a while (just welded the cage with the help of a mate) so this is basically the start of what i hope to be a fun car for track days and weekend fun etc.

Removed the polycarbonate windows, arches, and started to covert my 1 piece front end into a 2 piece.

removed the engine, and started to strip it down, lots of new parts to add so this should keep me out of trouble for a bit.

had a few issues drifting the gear linkage pin out, and removing the flywheel but apart from that its all good.

I was intending to replace the pistons but found that the ones i started with were stamped +.03 71.35.. was told when i bought it it was 1293. oh well 1380 here i come.

managed to pick up a cheap 1380 block, need to get some new cam bearings fitted tho.

Shiny new avonbar 10psi actuator, ported manifold and elbow thanks to Benross and as you can see the turbo to plenum pipe has been modified to allow intercooler fitment agian thanks goes out to giallofly, top work gents.

been working on and off for the past week on the car, here is the latest update

This is the 'new' (to me) block

stripped

to this..

then all painted up

I also gave the rest of the components etc a paint, ready for reassemble.

T2clubby and Nick popped over to help out with the diff install (without them to come and help i would be really stuck, cheers guys), a new 4 pin jobbie from minispares, mated to a JKD straight cut box

will keep you all updated.

cheers, Mark.

Well, the engine although it ran was pants.. and i had a load of new parts waiting to be dropped in so i thought while i was doing that i might as well tidy all the other bits that were annoying me and that i didn’t really have a chance to do in the last attempt (as it was all built outside and money was tighter).

I will still be going for a track look, plan is to get this all done set up and running sweet by the end of the year so i can use it for all the events / track days next year.

Very nice Mark! Really like this car.

How did you convert your one piece front to the two piece? How does the bonnet mount? Will have a go at doing that with mine, yours looks really neat.

Keep on with the updates :)

I really like this mark, but one thought - do you really want the brake lines that close to the turbo? Just thinking the heat may boil the fluid.

Engine is coming on well now (with help from T2cluby and Nick, cheers guys)

just waiting on a flywheel as mine was past its best.. Shane has kindly donated one for the price of a beer, should be with me soon. thanks again mate.

these are the new seats from a lotus s2, need to make some frames for these but they look like they will fit in nicely, have JohnK to thank for those.

And finally i have been busy with the paint.. first sight of the new paint job.. more will follow once the engine is out of the way and back where it belongs.

took stefaz and Joeys advice with the heat wrap for the brake lines :)

so making progress, hopefully the next update will be to tell you that the engine is in and actually works *happy*

Just a quick update, made some more progress however everything seems to be taking ages..

Engine is now back in its home and almost plumbed in. Will try and fire it before I crack on with the re-spray.

Shiny new catch tank :) will fit this in the inner wing after paint etc.

Its getting there.... slowly.

Grey works with a white or black roof in my eyes, so which ever you do it will be safe
