I have been pondering about making my own supercharger inlet, I have thought about buying a put together kit from Vmax but i geuss the design is the same.

so the big question is can we design a better flowing manifold. i have had a few thought but i don't think it will fit.

West Sussex - dreaming of forced induction!

Still cant see how its a great idea to squeeze all that compressed air through a tiny opening into a inlet manifold. What happens when you compress air, it gets hot, whats the prob with these superchargers, they generate too much heat!!!

Something along the lines of the MPi inlet manifold with a BIG hole in the top would be a better design if you ask me.

I alway thought the twin choke downdraft weber (not the IDA) one would work nicely.

Hi,
A bigger hole can only improve things.

a big hole isn't always better however *wink*

Whilst you are at it, fit a charge cooler in there.

Yeah design something really good and cheap that gives lots of power and put me down for one of them. Ta.

i wouldnt like to bolt that fucker on lol

why dont you mod the bottom of the flanges so you can 'slot' it onto the manifold studs, ala metro turbo?

i have a supercharger that looks very similar to that if your interested in having a go at making something, its from an audi not a bimmer mini, and it has teflon covered rotors that a twisted together. Called a sprintex..

Oh yeah,,, make something that produces Sh!p-loads of hp & costs diddly squat,,, Hhhmmmm I`m with you,,, Oh that`s right,,, generation of heat, restrictions in flow, opposing the laws of physics, & generallt costing bucket loads of money,,, sounds like pretty normal confrontations to me *smiley*

but i`m not knockin gyour idea,,, i`m actually all for it & yeah probably a twin throat manifold would be a far better bet than a single into a bent bit of pipe, but then who am i to argue, i`ve no idea what i`m on about,,, it`s just the bourbon talking *smiley*

However,,, in the "good old days" they used to smash the inlet gasses down onto a flat platform to help mix the sh!t into a finer mist/emultion,,, there`s allways "fors-&-againsts" any/every argument hey?

it`s good you`re thinking tho & i`m with you & your quest for improvement 500percent

i have been wondering about tilting the supercharger so the output points abit more towards the inlet then have try and get two outputs tubes to the head... just an idea so far.
Really can't work out how to fit a charger cooler in.. need to have a look at what types of charger coolers are out there.

Rotate the supercharger 180 degrees, such that the outlet is upwards, and make a nice outlet manifold like on the Supercoupe M90's (google it for paictures) and it'll be so much easier.

how about this. Im not to sure how this will come across in words but i will try my best to explain it.

in the third picture down where you look at the setup from behind. you have the verticle pipe leading into the Bent pipe which goes to the Flange.

do away with the verticle pipe, tilt the charger so as that it will be blowing in a more direct path down the manifold, and then sit charger directly ontop of the bent pipe, obviously openig out to top of the pipe to suit.

This will give you a better Path for the compressed air to follow and also a bigger outled hole from the adaptor plate.

im not too sure how feasable this idea is as i dont have the components infront of me so i can check for clearance issuse and servicability issues (you will regret it if you dont think of service issues later on!) but in theory this could be a possible way to go whilst still keeping it simple.

Hi,
See that's the problem with the UK, we don't have the right weather to get those kinds of pics :(

Yeah but a wee sprinkle of rain would do her wonders! Speaking of which I need a cold shower. Nice bonnet bulge.
Just to be clear is that a suck through set up or a blow through ? *smiley*
