hey all, the turbo assembly went onto the engine last week and after a few days of sooting the plugs up and turning the fueling down i got it over to collins in erdington and found out it was at 9% at idle, turned it to 3.5% and now it dosent splutter and stall when i pull the choke out from cold *happy*

its going on the rollers first thing in the new year, and id like a guestimate of the power it should make,

spec is, 1275 std 9.5cr pistons, turbo head, mg cam , maniflow downpipe and 1 7/8 twinbox system, 4psi actuator, chavalier 1.8 fuel pump, no airfilter yet, and i might lob a escort rs scuntercooler on if i get the chance.

so how may bananas and torques should i idealy be looking at, cheers

if just the 4psi actuator has been used with no bleed valve will it not be less?

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

that engine will be at least 18 year old and for sure will be clapped out requiring a full rebuild
dont expect it to be a fire breather ....lol

at 4psi straight of the acuator which is poor! 75bhp if you lucky !!!

i think tom may be thinking ? of the 7psi modulated signal as was in the metro turbo car

the motors a 40k fully rebuilt jobby, ive only got the actuator on it, and a rebuilt box with a 2.9 final drive *happy* im not really expecting a lot out of it at 4 psi but i was thinking around 80bhp/torques.
to be honest its the fastest engine ive had under the bonnet to far, it makes na seem like a big waste of time and money really *hehe!*

For a forum offering so much technical expertise on turboing minis i'm surprised to read such a hideous clarksonism as 'torques' *surprised*

Per-lease; just stick Nm or lbft after the number!!!

The official term for torque on TM is actually curly wurlies, with bananas giving power indication.

This is an acknowledgement by all that rolling road figures are often wildly inaccurate.

lol.

the reason the turm bananas is used is as a reminder that many rr figures can be taken with a pinch of salt.

err .... ok.... torques and bananas are a lot more fun than broken horse power and pounds to the feet of the torque, *hehe!* the turbo gets refered to as " the fuel economy snail" and "the whoosheywhooshey snail" too!

HEY, i had the car on the the rollers the other week, the first run made about 98bananas and 103 torques..... it tried to stall at about 3.3k rpm and then made the torque in a vertical line, also filled the bay with soot, this was a 8,5k co so we turned it down to 6k co at idle and the second run made 95bananas and 98 torques and it didnt die at 3.3k rpm the curve was a lot better however it was lean at 3.3k rpm ish *Confused*

out on the road it seems to stuter and kangaroo a bit at full throttle, ive set the timing to 8 degrees instead of 12 now but it still dosent seem to like full throttle, any ideas?

would a high boost needle and some subsequent high boost be a good idea as the current BDD seems incorrect?
